West Ham v Man United preview: Team news, head-to-head, where to watch, lineups, prediction

West Ham United will be hoping to bounce back from their 4-1 hammering at the hands of Tottenham when they host Manchester United on Sunday (27 October).

The Hammers currently sit miserably down in 15th in the Premier League following a slow start to the campaign, with Man United not much better off in 12th.

Should the hosts fail to pick up a result, additional pressure will be on Julen Lopetegui as he has found himself under fire as of late.

Preview

Sitting 15th, it has been a disappointing start to the season for Lopetegui’s side who have won just two of their opening eight fixtures.

The Hammers’ only home victory came against relegation contenders Ipswich Town, in a 4-1 hammering of Kieran McKenna’s side.

Lopetegui’s men will be hoping they can kick-start their season with a win against another side who have struggled so far.

Manchester United have hardly enjoyed much success so far this season either, sitting just three points above the Hammers.

The Red Devils made the decision to stick by manager Erik Ten Haag in the summer in a decision that certainly hasn’t seemed to pay off as of late.

Ten Haag’s side have won just three of their opening eight games, only one of them being played away from home.

Team news

The Irons will be without Mohammed Kudus after his red card in his previous outing, likely opening the door for Crysencio Summerville to showcase his ability.

Niclas Fullkrug remains a major doubt for the game, meaning Michail Antonio will likely be asked to lead the line again.

As for the visitors, Lenny Yoro remains a long-term absentee but Noussair Mazraoui could be in contention to start for Ten Haag after only being named on the bench in their previous fixture.

Bruno Fernandes missed United’s trip to Fenerbahce due to suspension although he will return to the squad for this Premier League encounter.

Predicted Lineups

West Ham: Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson, Rodriguez, Alvarez, Bowen, Paqueta, Summerville, Antonio

Man United: Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Casemiro, Eriksen, Rashford, Fernandes, Garnacho, Hojlund

Where to watch?

West Ham v Man United kicks off at 2pm (GMT) on Sunday, 27 October and will not be available to watch live in the UK. Highlights will be available on BBC’s Match of the Day 2 later in the evening.

Prediction: West Ham 1-1 Man United

Both sides have struggled to perform this season and both are far below where you would expect them to be in regards to their squad.

Failure to win for either side will undoubtedly pile even more pressure on either manager after slow starts to the campaign.

Perhaps not for the right seasons, it will be a close encounter that we are backing to end in a 1-1 draw.
