West Ham United yet to make Terem Moffi bid despite enquiry

West Ham United have made no decision regarding FC Lorient striker Terem Moffi although he is on the club’s radar, according to Six Foot Two.

The Nigerian international, who former Lorient manager Christophe Pelissier described as a “man of gold” [Pulse Sports], has scored 10 goals for the French side this season who have catapulted themselves into the European places.

ExWHUEmployee had reported via his Patreon page on 5 January that an enquiry had been made from the London Stadium to the Ligue 1 club.

But Six Foot Two understand that no official bid or approach has been made nor has a decision on whether he is the player they want to sign been concluded either.

David Moyes is said to be unsure whether he wants to add further players to his squad in January after bringing in a wave of new faces in the summer for big money.

Cost-dependent

10 goals in 16 matches is a very good record in one of Europe’s top five leagues but any January move for the 23-year-old will be totally dependent on how much Lorient ask for.

A move in the middle of the season is always likely to bring about a bigger price tag as clubs need to try and replace them in a very short space of time.

West Ham United

West Ham can’t afford to spend too much this month having splashed a wild amount in the summer to try and keep their European run going.

They have managed to be very successful in the Europa Conference League but the Premier League has taken a big hit as a result and David Moyes is heavily under pressure.

The board may not want to financially back Moyes in January if they have intentions of sacking him without an improvement in results so Moffi’s move may have to wait until a firm decision is made.
