West Ham United Women’s expert reacts to 2023 disappointment

We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road

West Ham United Women’s expert Michelle Irons feels the Hammers’ 2023 form has been very “disappointing” considering the lack of injuries.

The Hammers are without a win in the new year and have failed to win since 11 December against Tottenham.

The poor run of form has seen Paul Konchesky’s side fall to seventh in the Women’s Super League after a promising start to the 2022/23 campaign.

Irons believes the players have lost “intensity” and that this season looks to be fizzling out for Konchesky’s side.

“West Ham have not won since the 2-0 win against Spurs in December It looks like the team has lost a bit of steam this season,” Irons exclusively told West Ham Zone.

“There has been a drop in the intensity when they previously looked like they were aiming for a top 5-6 finish.

“No risk of relegation and nothing to play for which is quite disappointing considering we have a fully fit squad with only Zui and Tysiak out.”

The Hammers still have five fixtures left to contend with before they can put this disappointing campaign to bed. Up next is a daunting fixture against Manchester City before another away fixture to face Brighton and Hove Albion.
