West Ham United want Youssef En-Nesyri on £25million January loan-to-buy deal

West Ham United want to sign Youssef En-Nesyri on an initial loan with a £25 million option to buy in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

David Moyes’ side have come under fire lately due to a rotten run of form, which has seen them drop to 17th in the Premier League and only remain above the relegation zone on goal difference.

One of the most pressing issues is the lack of goals the Hammers have scored this term, with marquee summer signing Gianluca Scamacca netting just three goals and fellow striker Michail Antonio scoring twice.

The Daily Mail believes the Hammers have reignited their interest in the forward, with an initial loan followed by an obligation to buy on the cards.

The report said: “David Moyes’ side are looking to bring Atlas Lions World Cup hero En-Nesyri to east London this January, after Sportsmail reported interest last month, on a loan deal with an option to make his stay permanent for around £20-25million.

“Budgetary restrictions are currently proving difficult for Moyes’ side as well, as they look to force a loan deal with a buy option at a later date.”

Questionable

The potential addition of En-Nesyri is an interesting option for West Ham to toy with as the club aren’t short of attacking options, but are still somehow short of goals.

The Hammers have an abundance of attacking talent, including the likes of Scamacca, Antonio, Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Said Benrahma, but have only managed to hit the back of the net 15 times in 18 games this campaign.

Whether the Moroccan striker is the answer to Moyes’ goal shortage is questionable. The 25-year-old played a key role in Morocco’s miraculous run to the World Cup semi-final – netting twice in seven appearances – but his numbers for Sevilla are pretty ordinary.

The forward is yet to score so far this season from 12 appearances in La Liga and only scored five goals last term. His reduced minutes may be the reason for his downturn in form, but he doesn’t look like the clinical goalscorer Moyes so desperately needs.
