West Ham United want to sign Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo

West Ham United are continuing their broad search for a new striker with Strasbourg’s Habib Diallo the latest on their radar, according to ESPN.

The 26-year-old enjoyed his best goal-scoring season for Le Racing with 11 to his name as they exceeded expectations in achieving a sixth-place finish in Ligue 1.

After the success of 2021/22 though, he now wants a new challenge and dreams of a move to the Premier League with two other English sides in the hunt alongside the Irons.

Graham Potter’s Brighton and the newly-promoted Nottingham Forest are the other clubs named as being contenders for the Senegalese striker’s signature whose goal to minutes ratio has him seventh-best in the entirety of Ligue 1.

He also has an Africa Cup of Nations winners medal to his name and two goals in ten caps for the national team which will entice David Moyes even more.

The unknown

We know everything there is to know about Diallo in terms of his performances and statistics on the pitch but there is one very crucial detail we are unaware of through this ESPN report.

The price.

West Ham

He arrived at Strasbourg from FC Metz for £9million in the summer of 2020 but you would have to assume that the French side would desire a profit if they are to sell him in this transfer window.

Michail Antonio has been almost forced to take the brunt of the workload as the club’s only recognised striker in the senior setup and that has led to him showing signs of fatigue towards the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

Something should have been done about the lack of depth in January and we were linked with a number of attackers in that month but we didn’t get any of them over the line and we cannot afford to let that happen again this time around.

In other West Ham news, Antonio has been working hard away from the pitch to create a brand new academy aimed at helping young footballers gain an education.
