West Ham want to sign Premier League left-back – Sky Sports

West Ham United are in the market for a new left-back this season.

David Moyes currently has both Arron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku available at the London Stadium, but one may need to leave.

The Guardian reported that the Irons still need to sell players in order to bring any in, and Masuaku was one labelled as up for sale.

Sky Sports have released an update, claiming that West Ham are interested in signing Brighton full-back, Bernardo.

It is suggested on their website that the Irons could need to release a number of faces in their own squad before bringing in the Brazilian though.

Brighton are currently in talks with Basaksehir over the 25-year-old, with a loan move on the table to the Turkish champions.

Newcastle have also been credited with an interest in the South American.

How did the 25-year-old perform last season at the AMEX?

Bernardo managed 14 appearances in the Premier League, with only seven of those coming from the beginning of games.

In those games, the Brazilian did almost complete two tackles per game according to WhoScored, but his attacking stats could certainly improve.

Cresswell and Masuaku are both significantly better going forward, and the Hammers would lose that seriously if they were to replace either with Bernardo.

We expect them to look elsewhere if they do look to strengthen.
