West Ham United want to sign Lorient striker Terem Moffi, Southampton in transfer talks – Sky Sports

West Ham United are interested in Lorient striker Terem Moffi as Southampton enter talks with the 23-year-old, according to Sky Sports.

It’s understood the Saints are cautiously optimistic about a agreeing a deal for the Nigerian forward, who is in the final 18 months of his current contract (Sky Sports 14:54, 4 January).

It’s believed the Hammers have watched Moffi, who has scored ten league goals in just 15 starts for the Ligue 1 side in the 2022/23 campaign.

Unlikely

This does feel like a move which would be unlikely for the Hammers. David Moyes is currently well-stocked when it comes to strikers and he will probably be looking to improve other areas of his squad.

A right back appears to be at the top of Moyes’ wish list, with Metz defender Koffi Kouao being considered by the Scot (Footmercato, 3 January). The next month will be absolutely vital for the 59-year-old as he looks to relieve the growing pressure on his shoulders.

West Ham

West Ham are currently in a relegation fight and unless something changes quick, it could be a nervy end to the season. There are a number of players who now need to step up for the Hammers, with some of the summer additions failing to hit the ground running since moving to the London Stadium.

Gianluca Scamacca simply has to improve on the domestic front to give the Irons more of a goalscoring threat. The Italian has been extremely disappointing since moving to East London and certainly needs to offer more in a claret and blue shirt.
