West Ham United want to sign Atalanta defender Joakim Maehle
West Ham United want to sign Atalanta defender Joakim Maehle this summer, according to Paul Brown.
The Daily Star journalist has reported that the Hammers have a definite interest in the Danish international, who has slipped down the pecking order in Italy.
It is suggested that David Moyes could revisit his interest in Maehle after deciding not to make a move when having their previous interest.

Speaking to GIVE ME SPORT on Friday evening [17 June], Brown shared the latest player who could make the switch to the London Stadium.
“Maehle, I think, is someone who definitely interests West Ham,” he wrote.
“He’s been someone they looked at before; he’s only gone on to bigger and better things since then. I think he too would be a great signing if they could pull that one-off.”

New full back?
Maehle shined at the European Championships with Denmark in a run that was ended by England at the semi-final stage at Wembley.
But, it appears as though after that he struggled to reach those heights again.
That could spell good news for the Hammers though, who could now take advantage and seal a cut-price move compared to what he could have been valued at last summer.
With his career at Atalanta clearly going nowhere, Maehle could certainly see a chance to move to the Premier League as something that can resurrect that.
David Moyes is on the lookout for new full-backs, and those that can play as a wing-back too certainly fit the bill with the potential of a three-at-the-back formation – with the Daily Mail even labelling him as “one of the best” around.
With a deal for Nayef Aguerd close, it won’t be long until Rob Newman moves on to his next target for this summer, and it would be no surprise if it was Maehle to really finish off the defensive options.
In other West Ham United news, the Irons have been offered the chance to sign this £12.8million goal machine after his club was relegated.
