West Ham United want to appoint Arne Slot to replace David Moyes after Ruben Amorim snub

West Ham United have got Feyenoord boss Arne Slot on their shortlist of options to replace David Moyes, according to The Boot Room.

Writing on their website (23 April), the news outlet report that the Hammers have identified six managers to replace current boss Moyes, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Ruben Amorim was seen as the top candidate but he has opted not to come to the Premier League next season, and with Moyes now “definitely” expected to be leaving Slot has emerged as a target.

West Ham United aiming high to replace David Moyes

It’s clear the club have made the decision to move on from Moyes now, even if they don’t plan on communicating that until the season has officially ended.

That means they are now ramping up their efforts to find a replacement for the Scot, and they are clearly aiming high considering the names being touted with the job.

Amorim is on the verge of winning the Portuguese league title with Sporting CP although it now seems highly unlikely that he will end up at the London Stadium, while Julen Lopetegui managed Spain and Real Madrid earlier in his career.

Slot is another with good pedigree, having won the Eredivisie title in 2022/23 with Feyenoord by playing some excellent football and scoring lots of goals.

That’s what Hammers fans want to see and if the club can convince him to come in and replace Moyes, it will show that the board are on the same page as the fans when it comes to what everyone wants to see.

In other West Ham news, the club have scouted this “goal God” more than once ahead of a potential summer transfer.
