West Ham United want Maxwel Cornet loan to judge injury record and see how he settles first – ExWHUemployee

ExWHUemployee has shared that West Ham United want to judge the injury record of Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet in an initial loan move.

It comes after Dharmesh Sheth reported that a loan move was on the cards, despite the Ivorian having a small £175million release clause.

That is now said to be because the Irons want guarantees over his long-term fitness and how he settles moving down to London for a fresh start.

Writing on the official West Ham Way Patreon page on Tuesday [02 August], Ex shared the latest news on a potential move for the Ivorian.

“We had also heard a loan so we can see how he settles and judge his injury record before committing to the deal where as Burnley prefer a deal with the £17.5m release clause which some clubs have indicated they could be willing to pay,” he wrote.

Smart.

This makes complete sense.

Of course, Burnley would want the cash straight up with their debts as well as the fact they have dropped into the Championship, but this could also work out for them.

David Moyes may be happier to pay more than the £17.5million clause that is currently in play next summer if Cornet comes to the London Stadium and smashes it.

There is the added risk that the Ivorian speedster played as a striker last season, and would likely be moved deeper to play at left wing-back and the transition behind that could see him take time to settle.

With Filip Kostic and Eintracht Frankfurt proving to be hard nuts to crack, it looks as though Rob Newman and his team have moved on to other targets.

This is certainly one that could happen very quickly, but a breakthrough or compromise would need to be found with Burnley to get it over the line, it seems for West Ham United.
