West Ham United want Emerson transfer done within days, now at final step – Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United want to finalise a deal to sign Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri within days this week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable journalist has reported that the Hammers are at the final stages of the deal with details now being discussed personally with the Italian.

A deal has already been agreed for £13million, with add-ons taking the total price up to £15million as David Moyes looks to solve numerous issues in his squad.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Romano shared the latest behind the deal that has been complicated since the moment talks were opened.

“West Ham want to complete Emerson Palmieri deal this week after agreement reached with Chelsea on Friday, around £13m plus £2m add-ons,” he wrote. “There are details now discussed on player side.

“It’s the final step before deal done after talks resumed last week.”

Finally.

This has been a debacle ever since the moment it started.

Emerson came to the table with ridiculous demands it appears the first time round, and looks to have changed his mind this week as he doesn’t want to rot away on the bench at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian international will solve a real issue at left-back for West Ham United, with Aaron Cresswell having no competition or depth alongside him in that role.

West Ham United have endured a shocking start to the Premier League season, everyone can see that, and something needs to be done before the window slams shut.

It looks as though this deal alongside a move for Club Brugge star Hans Vnaken is what the club hopes is the answer, with both expected to go through this week.

The squad is crying out for depth after yet another weekend of nearly the exact same starting line-up we have seen for two years now, and that refresh is coming, we just need patience.
