West Ham United: Jason Cundy slams Michail Antonio on talkSPORT after what he did vs Tottenham

Jason Cundy slammed Michail Antonio for his “absolute shocker” as West Ham played out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

Antonio struggled all game up top and wasted one big chance in particular with around an hour of Tuesday’s (2 April) contest played.

Neither side could find a winner after Kurt Zouma cancelled out Brennan Johnson’s opener at London Stadium.

Speaking on talkSPORT [2 April, 10:32pm], Cundy said: “A draw was a fair result. The game was there for the taking for both sides. Antonio had an absolute shocker.”

West Ham must target a striker in summer transfer window

Antonio really should have been converting his chance after initially doing well to time his run but then firing straight at Guglielmo Vicario.

The Jamaica international had one of those games in which you have to question if a new striker is already being lined up for the summer.

In Antonio’s defence, he had scored in back-to-back games heading into the London derby with Tottenham, coming in the draw with Aston Villa and loss to Newcastle United.

However, he has just those two goals in his past 20 appearances in all competitions, which is clearly not good enough when leading the line.

If a more prolific centre-forward is brought in – easier said than done, granted – the Hammers will have as good a front four as anyone in the league.

Antonio will go down as a West Ham great thanks to his service for the club, but a change is undoubtedly needed.
