West Ham United ‘urgently’ trying to make new signings with ‘many bids’ made
West Ham United have made a number of bids to try and complete more new signings before the transfer deadline, according to Claret and Hugh.
The Irons have made five signings already this summer but they still find themselves short in certain areas and David Moyes wants those issues resolved before 1 September when the window slams shut.
Nayef Aguerd, the first recruit of the off-season, has already picked up a substantial injury which has seen Ben Johnson forced to fill in as a centre-half for the first two matches of the season.

As a result, a new defender is high on the agenda and bids have gone out from Rush Green to teams all over Europe for certain players as they scramble to make late purchases.
“We have many bids in and are urgently trying to clinch some deals ahead of deadline day,” a London Stadium source told Claret and Hugh.
Trust the kids
This sudden desperation for a defender is all the proof that West Ham fans should ever need that Moyes does not trust the club’s academy and that is a massive worry for the future of the club.
Considering it is seen as ‘The Academy of Football’ you would think that there are plenty of players there ready to make an impact on the senior team in every position.

They won’t be asked to play every single week for the rest of the season because Craig Dawson is nearly back to fitness so there is no reason why they can’t be given a chance to shine on the big stage.
Maybe the lack of progression shown under Moyes’ management is a reason why Sonny Perkins, a very highly-rated youngster, chose to leave the club and join Leeds United instead.
As much as a new signing can provide a temporary plaster for the problem, giving an academy player a chance is far more likely to prove to be a success in the long run if Moyes would look just slightly to the future.
