West Ham United unlikely to entertain transfer offers for Gianluca Scamacca, replacement wanted first
West Ham United are unlikely to entertain offers for Gianluca Scamacca following reports that they had reached a loan-to-buy agreement with AS Roma, according to Sky Sports News.
According to the report (29 July), Roma remain interested in the Italian forward and are exploring a loan-to-buy deal but it is believed that the Hammers want a replacement first before they can sanction his exit.
CalcioMercato reported on 29 July, that personal terms were already agreed upon between Scamacca and the Giallorossi with the two clubs close to agreeing on all the terms of the deal, however, that news has been quashed by reliable West Ham source ExWHUemployee [Patreon, 29 July].

The right move
Scamacca’s desire is abundantly clear after what he’s done in previous weeks, giving an interview with the Italian press about his desire to join Roma while also liking a picture involving Jose Mourinho’s side on Instagram.
He also removed the writing “West Ham player” from his Instagram profile which shows just how much he is desperate to depart East London this summer.

Despite Scamacca’s desire to return to his homeland this summer, following a difficult first season in East London, this is clearly the right move by West Ham United.
With the club set to lose another of their key stars this summer, following Declan Rice out the exit door, a replacement will need to be secured first should they sanction Scamacca’s exit.
There’s a real possibility that West Ham may enter the new campaign in worse shape than when they left the previous campaign, with no new signings through the doors at the London Stadium as of yet.
With expectations increasing following their European exploits in June, David Moyes and his men simply cannot afford a slow start to the season and for that to happen, they will need to be well-equipped, even potentially without any new additions.
