West Ham United transfer update: Said Benrahma spotted wearing training gear of another club on Deadline Day

Said Benrahma has been spotted in France with a fan as his departure from West Ham on Deadline Day looks to be set to go through.

La Vague Verte shared a photo on Twitter on 1 February showing the Algerian wearing a Lyon training trop after he was reported to be travelling to complete a medical at the Ligue 1 side.

The 28-year-old is in line for a permanent exit with the deal expected to be a loan with an obligation to buy worth in the region of £15million.

He had been said to be dragging his feet on the French switch after agreement was reached between West Ham and Lyon but it looks like he has made a decision.

Done deal?

It would be pretty surprising if Benrahma were happy to take a photo wearing Lyon training gear if he then didn’t end up with the club so this looks to be as good as confirmation the deal is going ahead.

Having seen his opportunities at the London Stadium fall significantly this season under David Moyes he should be in line for more football in France.

Just 13 Premier League appearances so far this season and a red card in the FA Cup as he got a start in the midst of a selection crisis shows that his standing at West Ham isn’t as high as it used to be.

The fee is perhaps on the low side for a player that cost a total of £30million after arriving from Brentford after an initial loan deal [BBC Sport].

But with comparatively little money flowing round the transfer market this month it looks like West Ham have taken what is available to move a peripheral figure off the books after making 155 appearances for the club in all competitions.

In other West Ham news, another collapsed Irons deal saw a £17million-plus dependent move also fall apart before the deadline.
