West Ham United transfer update: Gianluca Scamacca will ‘immediately exploit’ Roma return option, loan-to-buy on the cards
Gianluca Scamacca will “immediately exploit” the chance to leave West Ham for Roma if there is “even the slightest possibility” to make the move, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The struggling Hammers striker is expected to leave the London Stadium for Serie A this summer after proving not to fit into David Moyes style of play.
The likes of Juventus and both Milan sides have been linked to moves, but after Roma made contact with his representatives [Gianluca Di Marzio, 9 June] it is Jose Mourinho’s Giallorossi who are the 24-year-old’s dream.

Scamacca is from Rome, supports the club, and spent three years in the youth academy before heading to PSV where he made his senior breakthrough.
According to Corriere dello Sport the Europa League finalists are “working carefully” to put together an offer to bring the striker to the Stadio Olimpico, and a loan-to-buy deal with an affordable permanent clause is potentially on the cards.
Homecoming
After months of speculation that a high-priced Hammers star would return to the club they left as a teenager in Declan Rice’s links to Chelsea, it appears it could instead be Scamacca that fulfils that role instead.
Although the Italian also spent time at the academy of Rome rivals Lazio it is Mourinho’s men that he would love to join.
Since Tammy Abraham suffered a serious knee injury in the final game of the season it means there is an obvious opening in their strike force.

But whether they can afford to offer West Ham enough to make it worth their while is going to be the key question, with the Englishman put up for sale due to FFP concerns prior to his injury [Telegraph, 1 June].
If there is a more lucrative bid put on the table from the San Siro or the Allianz Stadium then the Irons hierarchy are sure to prefer it, given the money they splashed out last summer.
But if Scamacca’s West Ham career is to come to an end in this window it sounds clear where he would prefer to move next if he gets the chance.
