West Ham United transfer update emerges on Manchester United defender Harry Maguire

West Ham are considering making a bid to sign Manchester United in the January transfer window on one condition, according to ESPN.

The media outlet reported on its website on Friday (13 October) that if the England international’s game time does not improve this season, an offer could be launched by the Hammers.

They attempted to sign him this summer but failed to meet Manchester United’s £40million valuation of the 30-year-old, per Sky Sports.

Needed?

The Hammers desperately needed a centre-back this summer and Maguire seemed to be the first choice for David Moyes.

Moyes and the defender both admitted to the transfer interest but the player was never quite convinced by a move to the London Stadium.

Given how his team has fared this season, he may be regretting that decision and it’s not like he’s been getting too much game time either.

His minutes would’ve been close to zero had Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez not picked up injuries.

Once they’re back, he’s going to be benched again and perhaps that may open the door to an exit in the January transfer window.

However, Konstantinos Mavropanos was signed by the Hammers and if big money is to be spent in January, it’s going on a striker.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are now frustrated with a £10m player as a behind-the-scenes revelation has emerged from the London Stadium.
