West Ham United transfer update emerges on Leicester City ace Harvey Barnes with Declan Rice condition shared

West Ham are reportedly keen on signing a wide attacker this summer and have identified Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes as a potential option.

According to the Times [16 June], the Hammers will step up the pursuit of Barnes once Declan Rice leaves who’s linked with Arsenal and Manchester City.

An opening bid has been made for the 24-year-old by Arsenal but it has been turned down while City are set to launch their own attempt to sign him.

Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian reported on 9 June that talks have opened between Leicester and Barnes with the Foxes valuing him at £40million.

Makes sense

Rice’s sale will give West Ham the money to go out and sign quality players and Barnes is certainly one of those.

His goal-scoring numbers were exemplary this past season in the Premier League but went under the radar because of everything going on at Leicester.

He bagged 12 goals for a side that got relegated which was just two more than what Bukayo Saka scored in his best ever season for title contenders Arsenal.

This shows that despite being in a weak team, Barnes can stand out and he can certainly replicate those numbers and do even better at West Ham.

With Jarrod Bowen on the right and Barnes on the left, this team will be worth watching on the transition with Lucas Paqueta and hopefully, a quality central midfielder pulling the strings.

It remains to be seen whether or not Barnes can be signed as he’s also linked with Tottenham Hotspur.
