West Ham United transfer target Aaron Wan-Bissaka available on loan-to-buy deal in January

West Ham United transfer target Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be available on a loan-to-buy deal from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to 90min.

The 25-year-old joined the Red Devils for a fee of £45million in 2019, capping off his “meteoric rise” through the ranks at Crystal Palace with this blockbuster transfer.

Despite originally impressing at Old Trafford, the Englishman has been ostracised under new manager Erik ten Hag and is now set to leave the club in the new year. [90min]

The Hammers have reportedly been keeping tabs on the England Under-21 star and have now been given the green light to make a loan approach.

However, the 90min report stated that David Moyes’ side would face a host of competition for the right-back’s signature from clubs all over Europe.

The report said: “Former club Crystal Palace are amongst the clubs who have spoken to United, whilst the likes of West Ham and Leeds have also shown interest.

“United are willing to let Wan-Bissaka leave on loan with a view to a permanent deal.”

Good option.

Although Wan-Bissaka has fallen off a cliff at Manchester United in the last 18 months, there is a talented defender lurking deep within him, and a fresh start could be what he needs to reignite his career.

Once renowned for pocketing Kylian Mbappe in the Champions League, the Englishman is one of the best one-on-one defenders in the league and, despite his attacking limitations, would be a brilliant option for Moyes in January.

The initial loan deal would suit the Hammers perfectly, to begin with, allowing the club to asses whether Wan-Bissaka has the drive to get back to his best or if he is set on remaining in the doldrums.

If a short-term loan deal were to bore success, both parties would surely then be interested in making the deal permanent.

It ever-so-slightly resembles the deal West Ham struck with Manchester United for Jesse Lingard, but this time the London club must make sure they claim their man on a permanent basis if he shines at the London Stadium.
