West Ham United transfer news: Wolves set to hand Gary O’Neil first new signing in Aaron Cresswell, Michail Antonio could follow
Wolves want to hand new manager Gary O’Neil his first new signing at the Molineux stadium in West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell, according to The Guardian.
According to the report (11 August), the West Midlands outfit are set to hand O’Neil who was confirmed as Julen Lopetegui’s replacement on Wednesday (9 August), his first signing in Cresswell and Michail Antonio could follow him.
Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg reported on 21 July that Wolves were unable to agree a fee with West Ham for Cresswell after there were doubts about whether they could fund the move following their FFP restrictions.

However, according to the Guardian (11 August), Wolves are now set to hand O’Neil with his first new signings with both Cresswell and Antonio expected to leave the club in the coming weeks.
Wants new challenge
Cresswell was a major part of the West Ham squad that achieved major European glory after almost 60 years. To leave the club now, after nine years and having won silverware, is the perfect way for him to bow out and move on to pastures new elsewhere.
The Hammers veteran has done all he can in East London and it would be best for all parties involved if he moves on, with the club desperately seeking more young and fresh names to take the left-back mantle from next season, including Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen.

The defensive veteran wants to seek a new challenge elsewhere but after the latest development at Wolves, all hope of a West Midlands challenge seemed lost.
It’s now reported that Wolves want to revive that interest and Cresswell could be a perfect component for the new Wolves boss this coming season.
After all he’s achieved in East London, Cresswell deserves a farewell but it’s important the club start planning for his inevitable exit because West Ham United have certainly needed a fresh outlook at left-back for a long while, despite possessing the services of Emerson.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have now reached a total verbal agreement for the signing of one experienced Premier League player.
