West Ham United transfer news: Roma make contact Friday night for Gianluca Scamacca loan – Gianluca Di Marzio
AS Roma have identified West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca as an option to replace the injured Tammy Abraham and have made contact for a loan deal, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Hammers splashed £35m on the Italy international last summer, but he has struggled with injuries this season and managed just eight goals in his debut campaign before suffering a season-ending knee injury in April.
The Giallorossi are having to deal with a recent injury scare to main front-man Abraham who suffered a cruciate ligament injury on the Serie A final day, and will be out for eight to nine months.

And Italian Sky Sports journalist Di Marzio took to his personal Twitter account Friday night [9 June] to reveal that Scamacca is an option to replace the England international and added on his website that Roma have asked for information on a possible loan deal amid contact in recent hours.
Di Marzio notes that Milan have also been in the running for the Irons star for some time.
Exit talk ramping up
After the change of his agents and plenty of speculation regarding his future in East London, it’s looking increasingly likely that the former Sassuolo forward will move on this summer and West Ham United may well be resigned to losing him.
It certainly seems like a return to Italy is well on the cards for Scamacca as he’s struggled to acclimatise himself to the English game.

However, given Scamacca’s capabilities and potential, West Ham United will be foolish to let him go for a cut-price fee or even on loan given they’re potentially about to lose Michail Antonio also.
We feel West Ham United should desperately look to keep the Italian as he still has much to learn and to develop and could well turn out to be a future world-beater if all goes well at the London Stadium.
It is clear he needs time to adjust as adapting to the Premier League as it is a huge test for even the best of footballers on the land.
However, whether the Hammers will have the patience to wait for Scamacca is another matter but they seriously cannot let a serious talent go to waste without giving him an opportunity in the team.
