West Ham United transfer news on David Sullivan immediately shut down
West Ham United will not begin their planning for the summer window until the club knows its league status, according to Claret and Hugh.
The Hammers sit just four points above the relegation zone after losing three games in a row, with Manchester City the latest side to run out victorious against David Moyes’ men.
It had been suggested that Moyes and Rob Newman had prepared a list for David Sullivan, but that has been immediately shut down by the club.

Claret and Hugh claim (4 May) they have been told by the club that the “disaster” of relegation means transfer plans are currently on the back burner.
They wrote: “We were told, ‘we cannot begin to think where we might go for players until we know exactly in which division we will be playing’.”
No surprise
This comes as no surprise. There are a number of clubs in a similar position. Planning for a Championship campaign and Premier League season are completely different. The Hammers are probably one win from safety and will be hoping for their league status to be sealed as soon as possible.
Up next is another tricky test against Manchester United. Facing United, City and Liverpool in a matter of weeks is a fairly tough run. However, the remaining games against Brentford, Leeds and Leicester do present a decent opportunity for points.

Inconsistency has been a killer during the 2022/23 season. It’s felt like whenever a good run of winning form is due, they immediately hit a run of losses. Furthermore, with the Conference League semi-final on the horizon, it’s essential West Ham don’t lose track of what needs to be accomplished in the league. At least one more win is required before the season reaches its conclusion.
