West Ham United transfer news as update emerges on Jesse Lingard reunion
Things are happening behind the scenes for former Manchester United and Nottingham Forest attacker Jesse Lingard, who’s also linked with West Ham.
Foot Mercato journalist Sebastien Denis reported on 25 December that the Hammers are still thinking about the England international.
He has also been offered to several Ligue 1 clubs and the ex Manchester United, Forest forward and Hammers loanee, is wanted by clubs in the MLS as well.
Not worth considering
The Hammers must categorically avoid signing the 31-year-old, despite his availability ahead of the January transfer window.
Lingard’s recent track record and decline in performance since his successful loan spell with West Ham in 2021 raise concerns about his ability to make a meaningful impact for the club.
While he enjoyed a prolific six-month loan under David Moyes, scoring nine goals in 16 matches, his subsequent return to Manchester United and subsequent move to Nottingham Forest demonstrated a significant drop in form.

Moreover, Lingard’s behaviour of using West Ham as a stalking horse in the past, entertaining offers from other clubs and then ultimately rejecting them, is a red flag.
Such actions can disrupt team cohesion and create an unfavourable environment and Moyes, who values commitment and team spirit, is likely to be wary of Lingard’s inconsistent performances and potential for destabilising the squad.
Considering West Ham’s ambitions and the need for reliable and committed players, investing in the Englishman does not align with the club’s long-term goals.
