West Ham United transfer news as ‘taken information’ update shared on 16-goal Boulaye Dia

West Ham have made an approach to sign Boulaye Dia, who spent last season on loan at Salernitana from Villarreal, according to La Citta di Salerno.

The publication noted that the Italian club are keen to keep the 26-year-old, who scored 16 goals in 33 Serie A matches in the most recent campaign.

But their pursuit of the striker is under threat, with both the Hammers and Everton tempted by his €25million (£21million) release clause, according to La Citta di Salerno.

“Strong signals: The Campania club would like to keep their golden boy who, however, is the object of desire, with the €25million clause that is tempting (Naples, Lazio, Inter, West Ham and Everton have taken information),” according to La Citta di Salerno.

Dia banged in 16 goals in the Italian top flight last season, as well as registering six assists, all for a club that finished 15th in the table.

His figures should not be overlooked, and neither should his £21million price tag, which is relatively low in the modern market.

The Hammers should have plenty of money available for new signings over the coming months if they sanction an exit for star midfielder Declan Rice, who looks certain to leave the London Stadium for a huge fee in the summer transfer window.

They won’t spend all of it on a single player, and dividing it up equally in deals for various new signings looks to be the best option, one of which could be Dia.

West Ham won’t rush into any deals, but they should look to strengthen in attack this summer after their struggles in the final third last season, particularly in domestic competitions.

In other West Ham news, the East London outfit have rescued a 50:50 deal for a new hire, with an agreement close to completion.
