West Ham United transfer news as Southampton enquire to sign Ben Johnson
West Ham are not willing to sell Ben Johnson this summer as Southampton make an enquiry into the defender’s services, according to Football League World.
The English media outlet’s sources revealed on Friday (25 August) that despite there being interest in the 23-year-old, the plans are to keep him at the London Stadium.
Johnson has been a utility player for David Moyes, playing as a right-back, wing-back, centre-back and left-back as well.

Right choice?
Despite their relegation, Southampton are unlikely to face any issues to conjure the funds to sign the Englishman.
They are owned by a billionaire in Dragan Solak and also have parachute payments to help them deal with their absence from the Premier League.
They’ve also made huge money from the sale of Romeo Lavia to Chelsea so it’s apparent that they will look to splurge a little.

Even though the Hammers are reluctant to sell, Southampton may come in with an offer for the 23-year-old.
Johnson will want to play regularly and not be second choice at the London Stadium and he will get the opportunity to play week in and week out at St Mary’s.
It remains to be seen if he agrees with the club’s decision or he forces a move away before the window slams shut.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
