West Ham are set to announce the signing of Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse in the coming days, according to Sky Sports.

The British broadcaster wrote on their transfer blog on Friday (11 August, 17:52) that the England international has missed his medical at the club.

The 28-year-old has not been signed in time so will not be available for their Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Get it done soon

No new West Ham signing is going to be available for their first game of the season, which is shambolic, to say the least.

Edson Alvarez has joined but is unavailable for the game and did not even participate in pre-season because of how late that deal was done.

They do not have Declan Rice or Gianluca Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta may also be leaving the club.

West Ham

A side that's narrowly avoid relegation needed to be stronger, and they have only gotten better and they remain as candidates for relegation.

Nothing in this Hammers side gives the confidence that they will have a better campaign domestically and David Moyes cannot be blamed for it.

He's been let down by the board yet again and he will want Ward-Prowse and many new signings available as soon as possible.
