West Ham United transfer news as Michael Keane deal predicted for January

West Ham United could make a move for Everton defender Michael Keane in January to bolster their defensive ranks, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Keane has fallen down the ranks at Everton and could be seen as a potential replacement for West Ham United defender Craig Dawson.

Brown confessed that there is a “deal to be done” between the Blues and West Ham United for the centre-back and he thinks they will sign him in January if they want him badly enough.

“I think he’s quite an underrated player who would fit quite well into that back four,” as quoted by GIVEMESPORT.

“I could see this one happening. There’s a deal to be done there, definitely. If West Ham want him badly enough, I think they’ll get him in January.”

Premier League proven.

Whilst Keane certainly isn’t a name most fans would want to hear being linked with the club if he’s a like-for-like replacement for Dawson, then it may make some sense.

Keane has made 219 Premier League appearances and with the Hammers getting themselves embroiled in a relegation scrap these numbers could prove pivotal.

With the defender only featuring for 22 minutes for Everton this season, a deal would likely be easy to get over the line in January.

An initial loan move for the defender may be the wisest route to go down first though, this would give the club the chance to assess whether or not making a deal permanent would the right decision.

Whatever the case, having a defender with a heap of experience to bring into your backline when needed will only help in towards the Hammers Premier League survival chances this season.

Links with Keane just aren’t going away at the moment, so expect this one to play out a lot during January.
