West Ham United transfer news as Joe Worrall update emerges

David Moyes is expected to revive interest in Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall at West Ham this month, according to The Daily Mirror.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [1 January, pg 44] that the centre-back could arrive at the London Stadium this month after falling out of favour at the City Ground.

Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy also remains a target as West Ham look at two new arrivals, but that move could face serious competition from around Europe.

Smart.

With the African Cup of Nations set to take important players such as Nayef Aguerd at the back, it may be smart to look at cheap, solid options to bring in this month.

Worrall fits those categories after captaining Forest to Premier League survival last season, only to be ostracised from the squad in this campaign.

Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma have had several different issues in this campaign already with injuries, meaning Konstantinos Mavropanos is the only other option.

West Ham

Of course, if Worrall were to arrive and no such issues emerge, it would leave Moyes with plenty of different options in the heart of defence, maybe too many.

There isn’t expected to be masses of money made available at the London Stadium though, so Tim Steidten and his team will need to be smart, something these two moves certainly are.

This is now one to watch with the window now officially open, let the fun begin.
