West Ham United transfer news as Harry Maguire ‘set to stay’ at Manchester United – Sky Sports
Harry Maguire is set to stay at Manchester United after his potential transfer to West Ham stalled, according to Sky Sports.
The publication reported on its website on Friday (18 August) that the Red Devils had accepted a £30million bid from West Ham for the defender.
But that transfer did not take place, with the centre-back keen to stay and fight for a place at Old Trafford, Sky Sports added.

“Harry Maguire now appears set to stay at Manchester United after his potential move to West Ham stalled,” according to Sky Sports.
“United accepted a £30m offer from West Ham for their former captain last week, but that move didn’t go ahead with Maguire wanting to stay and fight for his place.”

Strange decision
It really is a strange decision from Maguire, who looked almost certain to finally put his Manchester United nightmare behind him and make the move to the London Stadium this summer.
The defender had lost both the captaincy and his place in the starting XI under Erik ten Hag, and was largely forced to watch on from the bench last season.
He could have changed that situation by forcing through a move to the Hammers, where he would have been much more appreciated by David Moyes and fans of the club.
Even with Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma forming a solid defensive partnership in claret and blue, Maguire was set for regular playing time in both the Premier League and Europa League, perhaps as part of a back three.
But with the England international seemingly staying in Manchester, the Hammers must now look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements, with time running out as the transfer window rapidly reaches its end point.
In other West Ham news, a Hammers-linked player is “attracted” by a move to the London Stadium this summer.
