West Ham United transfer news as green light given for Gianluca Scamacca exit
West Ham United have reportedly given the green light for Gianluca Scamacca to leave the London Stadium this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
West Ham shelled out £35m for Scamacca in a highly-anticipated summer move from Sassuolo, but due to recurring fitness issues and struggles with the tactical system under David Moyes, his time at the club may now be coming to an end.
Italian journalist Di Marzio reported on 9 June, that AS Roma had made contact with West Ham to sign the forward following the long-term injury blow suffered by Tammy Abraham at the start of June, and on Tuesday morning he revealed [13 June] that Scamacca had given the okay for a return to his former club.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed on Tuesday [13 June] that Roma chiefs had jetted to London to advance on the deal.
And according to the Daily Mail [14 June], the Hammers are seeking a permanent sale rather than a loan deal and want to recoup much of the £35m they spent on Scmacca with talks set to continue with Roma.
Tough ask to replace
It’s safe to say Scamacca hasn’t had the best of first seasons in England following his big-money move from Italy last summer, but the same can be said of plenty of foreign players currently at elite Premier League sides right now.
After the change of his agents and plenty of speculation regarding his future in East London, it’s looking increasingly likely that the former Sassuolo forward will move on this summer and West Ham United could well be making a costly error here.

Scamacca is a superb talent and a player with a raft of potential to thrive in the future, for which the £35m will have turned out to be an absolute bargain, but it seems as though the Hammers have lost patience which is wrong.
Look at how Sebastian Haller turned out once he left the London Stadium, it will hurt the club to see Scamacca enjoy a similar career trajectory when West Ham United will have tasted for themselves had they given him the opportunity.
With the Irons now on the verge of completing a deal to hire a transfer chief to help Moyes overhaul the current squad, West Ham United have a tough job on their hands finding a replacement, especially with Michail Antonio also set to depart East London this summer.
