West Ham United transfer news as Gianluca Scamacca exit meeting set today

Roma director Tiago Pinto will reportedly be flying into London on Thursday, 15 June, to have talks with West Ham about Gianluca Scamacca.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport [14 June, Page 28], Tammy Abraham’s injury has made signing a new striker imperative for the Serie A outfit.

Pinto has identified Scamacca as the ideal replacement and will look to negotiate for the Italy international who moved to the Hammers for a £30million+ fee last summer.

Keep him

West Ham must do everything they can to retain the services of Scamacca as it’s not right to write him off after one bad season.

Players moving from Italy take time to adapt to life in the Premier League and the Italian was in a side that wasn’t playing well at all.

David Moyes was on the brink of being sacked as the club faced relegation and would it not have been for the UEFA Conference League win, it would’ve been a disastrous campaign.

With Declan Rice leaving, they’re already losing one big name and cannot really afford to lose another in Scamacca.

Hopefully, once he’s back from his injury, he will be the striker he was at Sassuolo and the Hammers fans can see some of his best football.

If he does want to leave, the club chiefs need to ensure that they make a hefty profit from his sale given the fact that he’s just 24.
