West Ham United transfer news as Eberechi Eze move on cards
West Ham United could make a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze should they fail in a move to sign Rennes winger Jeremy Doku, according to The Independent.
According to the UK publication (17 August), both the Hammers and Manchester City are in a battle to sign Doku after French journalist Santi Aouna shared that West Ham were focusing their efforts on beating the Premier League champions to his signature.
The Hammers are still yet to make an official offer for the 21-year-old forward but City are confident of doing a deal for the Belgian attacker and should they fail in their attempts to land, a move for Eze could well be on the cards.

Eze would be brilliant, but difficult
West Ham United are certainly attempting to bulldoze their way to the transfer market finish line in these closing weeks of the window, already completing deals for Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse.
But after news emerging in the past week regarding the uncertain future of Lucas Paqueta, the Hammers desperately need a creative outlet to add to that, hence their move for Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

However, it’s been said that Chelsea could potentially hijack that deal after their failed pursuit of Michael Olise which means David Moyes and Tim Steidten could switch their attentions elsewhere and Eze would represent another stellar acquisition.
The former QPR star was one of Palace’s key players last term, even beyond his 14 league goal contributions, as WhoScored revealed Eze was the Eagles’ best-performer by average match rating.
He also ranked in their top two for attempts at goal, key passes made and successful take-ons per 90 over the 2022/2023 season – highlighting why he is amongst the Premier League’s best creators, a player West Ham United should be targeting to boost their attacking game under Moyes.
However, any deal for the former Queens Park Rangers magician could prove very difficult as he is incredibly crucial at Crystal Palace and has a great relationship with Selhurst Park manager Roy Hodgson, but every player has a price.
And it’s up to West Ham United if they are willing to put their money where their mouth is.
