Sky Sports share West Ham United transfer news as Danny Ings medical starts

Sky Sports are reporting that Danny Ings is currently undergoing his West Ham United medical ahead of a proposed £15m move from Aston Villa.

The Hammers are hopeful of getting the deal over the line for the Premier League fixture against Everton on 21 January, one which is a must-win for David Moyes.

Ings will have to be registered by midday on 20 January to stand any chance of featuring in the game, something the Irons will be hoping to see through.

“The Hammers are hopeful of getting the signing completed in time for him to feature against Everton on Saturday.

“He has to be registered by midday Friday to be eligible to play.

“The fee is £12m plus £3m in add-ons.”

Panic buy?

This transfer story seems like a bit of a panic buy for West Ham United, having only been linked with a move for Ings in recent days.

And whether or not he is the man to change the fortunes of Moyes and the Hammers season remains to be seen, it’s a strange transfer, to say the least.

Yes, Ings is a proven Premier League poacher but he’s getting on a bit and a move for a younger faster, in-form forward like Terem Moffi would have been preferred.

That’s not to say the Hammers won’t still make a move for the Lorient forward, that transfer story seems set to go on for a little while longer.

One thing that is certain is that West Ham United needed to make some moves in this transfer window and hopefully everyone will be proven wrong about Ings coming to the London Stadium.

A debut goal fest against Everton? The Irons can dream.
