West Ham United transfer news as Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku trains alone

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is training alone at Cobham as he looks to force his way out of the club with West Ham keen, according to Football Transfers.

The English media outlet reported on Monday (21 August) that the Hammers are the favourites to secure the services of the 30-year-old Belgium international.

After a topsy-turvy spell on loan at Inter Milan, the Blues are not keen on integrating him into the first-team squad this season.

West Ham United

Decent option?

It’s evident to everyone who watches the Hammers that a new striker is the need of the hour for them this summer.

Despite Michail Antonio’s exploits against Chelsea, he’s not good enough to lead the line regularly this season.

It’s also pretty clear that he wants to leave as well with links to clubs in Saudi Arabia emerging in recent weeks.

West Ham

West Ham may be retaining his services as they do not want to be without a regular first-team striker and once his replacement arrives, he may be shown the door.

Lukaku, if he arrives on decent wages and a modest transfer fee, might be a good option for David Moyes’ side.

He’s a confidence player and if he’s put into the right environment and players around him cater to his playing style, he could rack up impressive goal-scoring numbers for West Ham.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
