West Ham United transfer news as Carlos Borges deal ‘called off’ amid delays – Sky Sports
The deal to bring Manchester City winger Carlos Borges to West Ham United has been called off, according to Sky Sports.
The publication reported on its website on Tuesday (1 August) that the £14million transfer for the 19-year-old looked “as good as done.”
However, Sky Sports noted that the Hammers now believe that the teenager is heading for Ajax after failing to agree agent fees and personal terms.

“The deal to take Manchester City forward Carlos Borges to West Ham has been called off,” according to Sky Sports.
“The £14m move for the Portugal U19 international looked as good as done as recently as last week, but it appears there were delays in getting it over the line due to agent fees and personal terms.
“West Ham believe the player is now on the verge of agreeing a deal to join Ajax and are now focussing on other targets.”

Huge blow
West Ham are seemingly focusing on bringing in a new midfielder this summer after the departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal, but it hasn’t stopped them from trying to improve in other areas.
And out wide of the final third has been one area considered, with the Hammers having had an interest in Harvey Barnes before his switch to Newcastle United.
It now looks as if they have missed out on another target, with the exciting Manchester City winger potentially closing in on a move to Dutch giants Ajax.
It looks set to be a huge win for Ajax but a huge loss for West Ham, whose front line would have undoubtedly been improved by the recruitment of a player who scored 29 goals from 33 appearances last season.
Borges also chipped in with 18 assists in Manchester City’s youth ranks, with those displays leading to summer interest in the talented attacker.
In other West Ham news, a Hammers player has emerged as a “cheaper” option in one European club’s pursuit of a new striker, according to Fabrizio Romano.
