West Ham United transfer news as Bono set to leave Sevilla, player agent working on possible destinations

Sevilla goalkeeper Bono looks set to leave the club this summer and West Ham United are among the clubs interested in his services, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Fichajes.net reported on 11 April that the Morocco international is growing impatient at the Spanish outfit and is going to leave the club in the summer, with the likes of West Ham, AC Milan and Roma keen on the 32-year-old’s services.

The Hammers have been previously linked with the veteran shot-stopper with Spanish outlet AS [13 February] claiming that the East Londoners are challenging Tottenham and Manchester United for Bono’s signature.

And according to Mundo Deportivo [14 April], Bono isn’t pleased with his limited opportunities since José Luis Mendilibar’s arrival with the Sevilla coach preferring Marko Dmitrović despite the Moroccan’s success as one of the leading La Liga goalkeepers over the years.

As such, his situation has led to interest elsewhere from the likes of Leeds United and fellow Premier League club West Ham, with his agent already “begun to move to find a possible destination for him”.

Serie A outfits AC Milan and Roma are also said to be interested.

Decent option

The Hammers will be in need of a long-term goalkeeper within the next six months and beyond, especially with Fabianski enduring a difficult campaign and his immediate future up in the air.

Bono has been at the top of his game for several seasons and is widely regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in La Liga, as well as enjoying a tremendous World Cup campaign with Morocco on their run to the semi-finals in Qatar.

Given his experience and quality, the 32-year-old represents a decent option to acquire at the London Stadium and with the Moroccan looking to depart the struggling La Liga side, he may be available for a cut-price fee.

However, West Ham United will arguably be searching for much younger goalkeeping acquisitions to replace Fabianski for the long haul with the club also interested in Valencia talent Giorgi Mamardashvili and already have Alphonse Areola on their books if they wish to keep him next season.

It is a position the Hammers must think long and hard about.
