West Ham United transfer news as bid expected for Leicester City forward Harvey Barnes – ExWHUemployee

Leicester City forward Harvey Barnes is a top attacking target for David Moyes this summer and West Ham United are expected to make a bid, according to ExWHUemployee.

Despite the Foxes’ disappointing relegation from the Premier League, Barnes enjoyed a fruitful and superb individual campaign scoring 13 goals from his 34 appearances.

Leicester City are resigned to losing key players because of their Championship plight and according to The Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg, Barnes is valued at £40million.

And according to ExWHUemployee [20 June], speaking on his The West Ham Way podcast, Barnes has emerged as a top target for the attacking positions and the Hammers are expected to make a bid but also face stiff competition from Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle.

He said: “Barnes is the number one target for that position I can assure you.

“Moyes is a huge admirer and a bid for him is expected, although nothing submitted as yet. We also face stiff competition from Aaron Villa, Newcastle and Spurs.”

Be first to the table

Barnes is definitely set to attract plenty of interest this summer given his apparent and stark attacking qualities from the left-flank and it’s easy to see why Tottenham and Newcastle are also interested.

However, West Ham United have the most pressing need for him given their only out-an-out wingers are Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen and Maxwel Cornet.

If the Hammers are to fire on all cylinders next season, they desperately need attacking options and Barnes is the best available candidate to drive them forward both domestically and in Europe – which may prove a tempting incentive for him to consider.

The winger, previously hailed as “unbelievable” by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, scored 13 goals in 34 top-flight appearances from the left wing and also ranks in the top 10% across Europe’s big five leagues for goals, shots on target and goals per shot amongst wingers, meaning he isn’t afraid to get shots off and certainly knows where the goal is.

West Ham United need goals from all avenues if they are to compete amongst the elite once again and signing Barnes is the best way to kick off their lofty ambitions.

A Premier-League elite wide player who would be an instant hit inside the London Stadium.
