West Ham United transfer news as Bayern Munich join race to sign Thilo Kehrer, Thomas Tuchel schedules talks already

Bayern Munich have now also joined the race to sign West Ham United defender Thilo Kehrer in the January transfer window, according to Santi Aouna.

The Foot Mercato journalist, taking to his personal Twitter account (29 December) has shared that former Chelsea manager and Champions League-winning coach Thomas Tuchel knows Kehrer well from their time at PSG and has scheduled talks with him.

The race for Kehrer’s signature is heating up as the January transfer window approaches with Serie A clubs Roma and AC Milan along with Ligue 1 clubs Rennes, OGC Nice and now AS Monaco are pushing hard too, according to Aouna.

Aouna posted: “More on exclusive story on Thilo Kherer: many clubs, including Bayern Munich, are there.

“Thomas Tuchel knows very well the player and he will have a conversation with him.

“Monaco is pushing hard for the deal. Rennes too.”

Wow

Kehrer must clearly be doing something right or he may not be as bad as his career in East London is making him out to be as he is now wanted by multiple clubs on the continent, especially Bayern Munich.

It seems as if Tuchel is willing to work with him again having scheduled talks to bring him over to the Allianz Arena already and given the nature of their interest, Kehrer will certainly be tempted by it.

West Ham

The 27-year-old defender has yet to start a Premier League game for West Ham United this season, with his only four appearances coming from the substitutes’ bench.

However, West Ham wanting to sell the German on loan remains probably unlikely given they are in need of some cash ahead of the window.

If one club want to sign him on a permanent deal and offers a suitable and reasonable price then West Ham United will certainly listen to it and consider it.

Whether Bayern will want him on a permanent deal remains to be seen but there are certainly other clubs keen which will allow West Ham United the chance to entertain an auction to drive up the price a little.

In other West Ham news, one fan-favourite has seemingly ruled himself out of Tuesday’s clash with Brighton after a social media message on Instagram.
