West Ham United transfer news as battle heats up for Manchester City target Jeremy Doku
West Ham are looking to sign Rennes winger Jeremy Doku despite Manchester City agreeing on personal terms with him, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
The former RMC Sport journalist reported on Tuesday (15 August) that the Hammers were looking to hijack City’s deal for the Belgium international.
They are in talks with the Ligue 1 outfit to secure the services of the 21-year-old but he’s understood to prefer a move to the Etihad Stadium.
Via Twitter, Tavolieri wrote, “Jeremy Doku AGREED on 5 years deal on personal terms with Man City. The Belgian winger already spoke to Pep Guardiola. First written official offer to be submitted at Stade Rennais this week. The French club ask minimum 55M€. West Ham United also on the race & currently in talks with Stade Rennais officials wants to hijack the Cityzens with a bigger offer but Jeremy Doku ONLY wants Man City.”
No chance surely?
West Ham will be living in dreamland if they think that they can successfully hijack a move for a player who prefers to join City.
The defending Premier League champions will give him exorbitant wages and the chance of competing for every trophy every season.

At West Ham, his first priority is going to be to avoid relegation with two of their best players leaving and perhaps a third one being close to an exit too.
These are not ideal times at the London Stadium and it’s going to take unreal assurances for someone to want a move there over the Etihad.
It remains to be seen how this Doku saga transpires but any hijack appears to be highly unlikely, as things stand, and David Moyes must look at other options.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
