West Ham United transfer news as Arsenal to make another Declan Rice bid – Sky Sports

Arsenal are expected to return with an improved offer for West Ham ace Declan Rice after their opening bid was rejected, according to Sky Sports.

The publication noted that the Hammers have rejected a bid from the Gunners thought to be worth £80million plus add-ons.

Sky Sports added that the North London outfit are expected to make another bid for the midfielder in the coming days, with Manchester City also sniffing around.

West Ham

Adding to the news that West Ham have rejected Arsenal’s opening bid for Rice, Sky Sports noted: “The Gunners are expected to return with an improved offer for the Hammers captain in the coming days.”

Highly sought-after

It’s definitely normal for clubs to see their opening bid for a player turned down, with the club currently holding the player definitely having all the power in the negotiations.

West Ham

In this case, that is West Ham, who know exactly how much Arsenal want Rice, with the East London outfit now putting that admiration to the test.

It’s clear that the Gunners are keen to get a deal over the line for the Hammers captain as soon as possible given how the summer transfer has only just opened.

Arsenal look set to be pushed right to their very limits in these negotiations, with West Ham able to ramp up Rice’s price tag given the interest from other clubs and indeed the midfielder’s displays for club and country in recent years.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will be eager to bring in the midfielder in the coming weeks as his squad returns for pre-season, with the Spaniard needing as much time as possible to work with the 24-year-old ahead of the new campaign.
