West Ham United transfer for Lucas Paqueta now at final stages with documents ready to exchange – Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United are in the final stages of a transfer to sign Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable journalist has shared that a verbal agreement is in place between the clubs after fresh talks were kickstarted on Friday morning to find a positive outcome.

It is now time to exchange the documents and seal an agreement on personal terms, which shouldn’t be an issue after being discussed with agents.

Writing on his personal Twitter account on Friday afternoon [26 August], Romano shared the latest news as the official agreement gets closer.

“West Ham and Olympique Lyon have now reached a verbal agreement for Lucas Paquetá, after new round of talks in the morning,” he wrote. “Deal now at the final stages.

“Time to exchange documents and seal agreement already discussed on personal terms with Lucas Paquetá’s agents.”

Here We Go.

West Ham United are back yet again.

After yet another difficult transfer and negotiations including multiple offers being rejected and it looking fully off at one stage, we have found a way to get this done.

Once the documents are exchanged and Lyon can’t go back on this verbal agreement, we will feel much more confident about getting it over the line.

Paqueta clearly wants the move to the London Stadium and the Premier League, with David Moyes set to get his marquee new arrival for his midfield.

With personal terms already agreed, we can see this one being completed very quickly and he could even be ready to start next week, possibly not this weekend though.

The Brazilian should soon join his agents in the United Kingdom, and that is when things will start to move very quickly with his medicals and media obligations.

This is a huge signing.
