West Ham United have received a transfer boost with Liverpool ready to offload Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to the Mirror.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, 28, is out of contract at Anfield next season and the Premier League runners-up have put him up for sale this summer for a fairly low fee.
As first reported by The Mirror on Wednesday [25 May], David Moyes has been put on red alert after becoming aware of Liverpool’s intention to move on the midfielder.
The Merseyside club are likely to ask in excess of £10million for the former Arsenal midfielder.
Good move
A move to West Ham makes a lot of sense for Oxlade-Chamberlain, with the London Stadium proving to be a fruitful environment for English midfielders in the past.
Jesse Lingard’s loan spell in 2021 should provide plenty of encouragement for the Liverpool man if he was to make the move down south.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has hardly seen a dramatic drop off in his performance in recent years, he has just been unfortunate that he is vying for a spot in one of Europe’s most competitive teams.
Not many players in world football would break into a three-man midfield made up of Fabinho, Thiago and Jordan Henderson.
The former Southampton youngster will certainly provide plenty of competition in the middle of the park at the London Stadium if he did make the move.
Declan Rice has sometimes lacked an adequate midfield partner at times this season, with Tomáš Souček failing to replicate his form from last season.
