West Ham United transfer announcement update emerges with Andy Irving deal sealed

West Ham are set to complete the signing of former Hearts midfielder Andy Irving on deadline day, according to the Daily Mail.

The English newspaper reported on its website on 1 September that an announcement is likely to happen next week for the 23-year-old midfielder.

Sources say that this deal could be the start of an affiliate partnership between the Hammers and SK Austria Klagenfurt, the Scottish midfielder’s club.

Worth it?

Irving is expected to be loaned back to the Austrian club so it remains to be seen whether or not this deal is worth it.

They still have to sign a striker this summer and the money rather be spent there than on a midfielder just to form affiliate agreements.

It’s also surprising as to why an announcement cannot be made on deadline day as he’s not a free agent so he needs to be registered right away.

There’s also no point in sorting out the paperwork only for an announcement not to be made as it does not make any sense.

It remains to be seen how good Irving really is and fans will surely be keeping tabs on his performances over the course of the season.

They would, however, urge the club to sign a striker as soon as possible as time appears to be running out in the transfer window.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open to leaving his side this summer.
