Roshane Thomas has called for an immediate decision to be made on David Moyes' tenure after West Ham collapsed in a 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday (21 April).

Goals from Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Jean-Philippe Mateta, and an own goal from Emerson Palmieri saw Moyes condemned to four goals in the quickest time throughout his 693 total matches as a manager (Opta).

Michail Antonio was able to claw one back before Mateta bagged his brace, with a Dean Henderson own goal making it 5-2. Moyes has been under immense pressure at the London Stadium, and this certainly has done him no favours.

Taking to X on Sunday (21 April), the Athletic journalist Thomas wrote: "West Ham need to announce whether or not Moyes is staying. There's no point waiting until the end of the season.

"Defeats like this only add to the negativity. If Moyes does leave, he deserves a respectful send-off. But the lack of clarity isn't helping."

Will David Moyes remain as West Ham United manager next season?

Thomas is exactly right. Moyes deserves a respectful send-off after helping the club to their first European trophy in the last few decades. However, this must be his last season in charge.

Football is a results-based sport, and some of West Ham's results this season have been embarrassing. The 5-2 loss to the Eagles is just the tip of the iceberg.

The 4-3 capitulation against Newcastle United, 6-0 hammering by Arsenal, 1-0 defeat by Bristol City in the FA Cup, 5-1 loss to Liverpool in the EFL Cup, and the 5-0 loss to Fulham are just a few examples of horrific results this season.

The uncertainty over Moyes' future at the club has, not only created negativity for the players but has also caused frustration for the faithful fans at the London Stadium.

If fans knew that the Scot was to leave the club at the end of the season, it would be unlikely that so many would be discussing his future, especially as it is well-known that he has a contract on the table.
