West Ham United told to be ‘careful what they wish for’ as David Moyes return mooted
Jamie O’Hara has told West Ham United fans to be “careful what they wish for” after a London Stadium return was mooted for David Moyes.
Julen Lopetegui’s poor start at the London Stadium continued with a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday (21 September) to increase the pressure from fans on the new Irons boss.
Although the former Real Madrid manager is not believed to be under immediate pressure [Fabrizio Romano, 22 September], talkSPORT host Jason Cundy has been quick to ask supporters if they would be eager to see Moyes return.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Saturday (21 September, 17:33) Cundy said: “Would you take David Moyes back?”
The supporter replied: “Nah, I wouldn’t take him back, I really wouldn’t.”
O’Hara responded: “Mate, be careful what you wish for. I’m telling you West Ham fans, we told you this latest season.
“West Ham fans digging David Moyes out, saying it’s boring football and all that. Mate, it was European football week in and week out.”
Will West Ham sack Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium?
In the past, West Ham have turned back to Moyes with their tail between their legs after parting ways with the Scotsman, but that feels as though it is unlikely to happen this time around.
Although Lopetegui’s start to the season at the London Stadium has been incredibly disappointing, the former Wolves boss has been given a difficult run of fixtures that even the best of managers would have struggled with.
Yes, the performances have been nowhere near good enough and there will be fears among supporters that the Spaniard’s appointment has taken the Irons backwards, but there is still time for him to turn things around.

With so many new signings arriving in East London over the summer, there was always going to be a teething period before things clicked into gear. While it has gone on longer than expected, it is not the end of the world.
Appointing Moyes for a third term would be admitting defeat. It seems unlikely that the decision-makers at the London Stadium would be willing to do that.
