West Ham United to sack Julen Lopetegui as Dharmesh Sheth shares new twist
West Ham will sack Julen Lopetegui only when an agreement is struck with a preferred candidate, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on 6 January that talks are taking place with Graham Potter to replace the Spaniard at the London Stadium.
However, no agreement has yet been reached with the former Chelsea and Brighton manager to take over.
Sheth wrote on X: “West Ham hold talks with Graham Potter over manager’s job as pressure mounts on Julen Lopetegui. Potter deal not done. One source claims Lopetegui will be sacked IF agreement is struck with a preferred candidate. Potter also of interest to Everton IF Sean Dyche goes.”
Graham Potter seems the ideal candidate for West Ham
Potter managed to get a tune out of young and talented players at Brighton and there’s no reason why he cannot do the same at the London Stadium.
The likes of Mohammed Kudus, Crysencio Summerville and even Jean-Clair Todibo will love playing under him as they fit into his style of play.
He could also get the best out of Lucas Paqueta, given his recent struggles and make him central to this side.
Jarrod Bowen can also be given a more defined role so as to maximise his output in front of goal and there is the likelihood of more academy players getting a chance.
Talks appear to be going well and it remains to be seen whether or not Potter reaches an agreement to become the next manager.
It’s clear that Lopetegui is not the answer for the club and the sooner he’s gone the better it is for the Hammers.
In other West Ham news, sources claim the Hammers can now secure the services of a £40m player in January.
