West Ham United to be impacted by potential Premier League transfer rule change, vote impending – Sky Sports

West Ham will be impacted if the Premier League votes to introduce a ban on loaning players between clubs with the same owners, as per Sky Sports.

The publication reported on its website on Thursday (9 November) that the vote will take place at the Premier League shareholders meeting on November 21.

Sky Sports added that the vote needs 14 of the 20 top-flight members to pass, with the ban to be temporary before likely being made permanent.

“It is understood the motion is likely to succeed and it would mean Newcastle would not be able to loan players in from Saudi Arabia in the January transfer window,” according to Sky Sports.

“There has been widespread concern the club would benefit from their owners – the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund – having material influence over the majority of clubs in the Saudi Premier League.

“But the ban will also impact a number of other clubs whose owners either control or have investment in other clubs abroad including Manchester City, as well as Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Brighton, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.”

Ban likely

It seems to be the case that a ban is likely, with a decision set to be agreed upon later this month. And that could have consequences for the Hammers, with a long list of other Premier League clubs set to be impacted.

For now, however, the main issue seems to be around Newcastle United and their links to former Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

There is seemingly some concern around the idea that the Magpies can benefit from their owners being able to very simply and quickly replace the suspended Sandro Tonali for Al-Hilal’s Neves in the upcoming January transfer window.

It remains to be seen if the Hammers had plans for something similar, but it looks like any such plans would not be possible.

Manager David Moyes will, however, perhaps still have his sights set on strengthening his options in the January window given the club’s recent struggles on the pitch.

In other West Ham news, club scouts have been joined by Arsenal and Tottenham in the pursuit of a 10-goal international striker.
