West Ham United to announce David Moyes exit

David Moyes’ West Ham exit is set to be announced “very soon” as Julen Lopetegui looks to be his successor, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports journalist reported [6 May] that the decision has been made for Moyes and the club to part ways at the end of the season, bringing his second spell in charge to an end.

According to Fabrizio Romano [6 May], Lopetegui has agreed terms with the Hammers to replace the Scot ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, though no contracts have been signed as of yet.

West Ham United set to announce David Moyes exit

With just two matches of the season remaining, the Irons’ penultimate game is at the London Stadium as they welcome Luton Town in a Premier League clash.

This would present the stadium full of fans to show their appreciation for Moyes, who has given everything during both of his spells in charge of West Ham.

Moyes will leave the Londoners with some special memories, most of all leading the club to its first European trophy in decades after lifting the Europa Conference League.

With the situation threatening to become sour, this news seems to have come at the perfect time, especially as the current manager can see the love and respect he still holds at the club.

Lopetegui certainly looks like the next manager to take over at the London Stadium, though the news has been greeted with some very mixed reactions.

While some football fans are extremely impressed with the former Wolves boss’ managerial record, others are keen to stay away, with West Ham also linked with a move for Ruben Amorim.

Whatever happens, this update from Plettenberg means Moyes will receive the send-off that he most definitely deserves, having put his all into West Ham over two separate spells in charge.

In other West Ham news, Sullivan has been “won over” by talks with this manager.
