West Ham United tipped to sign Kalvin Phillips to end Manchester City nightmare
The Sunday People’s Neil Moxley feels Kalvin Phillips is an “excellent fit” for West Ham United with his Manchester City future up in the air.
According to Claret and Hugh on 27 June, a stand-alone transfer for the 27-year-old midfielder cannot be ruled out with Declan Rice set to rubber-stamp his move to Arsenal.
Writing in his latest column for the Sunday People, Moxley has claimed Phillips would fit into the Hammers’ set-up “seamlessly”.

“It would have been easy to placate Hammers’ fans with Phillips – an excellent fit,” wrote Moxley (Sunday People, pg 56, 2 July).
“It would have got him back playing regularly again. At a club where his talents would be valued by David Moyes and the East End fans, and in a position that he could have slotted into seamlessly.”
Surprising
West Ham not pursuing a move for Phillips is a bit of a surprise.
The 27-year-old would have been the ideal fit to replace Declan Rice at the London Stadium.
Phillips being reluctant to move to East London is probably having an impact on any proposed transfer.
The player’s desires need to be considered. If he isn’t willing to give up on his Manchester City career then moving to West Ham doesn’t seem like the best move.

David Moyes needs players who are going to be invested in the club’s best interests moving forward. With Rice likely to be on his way, it’s essential for the board to sign at least two midfielders.
They aren’t going to be able to replace their talismanic captain, but adding two or three quality additions could see the Hammers become a more rounded side as a result.
Rice’s departure is set to be finalised. Most West Ham fans will be delighted that the saga is reaching its conclusion.
