West Ham United tipped to make Roberto De Zerbi-esque managerial appointment, David Moyes to go – Stan Collymore

Stan Collymore has predicted West Ham to make a Roberto De Zerbi-esque managerial appointment at the of the current Premier League campaign.

Speaking in the Sunday People (page 55, 12 March), Collymore urged West Ham to keep onto current manager David Moyes until the end of the season.

Collymore confessed that Moyes deserves a good old handshake if the Hammers choose to oust him in the summer, for the job he has done at the London Stadium.

“Despite the growing clamour for it, West Ham shouldn’t even think about parting company with David Moyes until the summer and then, if they are serious about him going it should be done with a decent handshake and thank you for all he has done,” said Collymore as quoted by the Sunday People (page 55, 12 March).

“As soon as the season ends, they can then make their offer to a Roberto De Zerbi or Marco Silva and give them a full pre-season to move in.”

West Ham

Way to go.

Obviously, it’s easy to say that the Hammers should make a De Zerbi-esque hire in the summer, however, it’s completely another thing to achieve it.

There are definitely managers out there in the same mould as the talented Italian and Michael Carrick spring to mind for his progressive tactics and playing style.

All in all, to many fans’ disappointment, it looks like Moyes will be at the London Stadium until at least the end of the season.

This at least should give the Hammers hierarchy plenty of time to analyse and highlight a replacement for the Scot, one who can lead this team to brighter days.

Who that manager is remains to be seen, however, even if Moyes can pull off some form of miracle between now and the end of the campaign, it’s likely he’ll be gone in the summer.

Collymore’s right, Moyes does deserve a thank you and pat on the back, nevertheless, it’s time for the club to move on to new ventures.
